ÌTA ỌBA draws from the rich history of the Ojude Oba Festival, originally known as ÌTA ỌBA. This festival, now one of Nigeria’s largest, sees families of Ijebu descent parade in vibrant attire on horseback to pay homage to the king. My sculpture reflects this tradition, incorporating relief portraits of key historical and contemporary figures—Balogun Bello Kuku, Pa Asani Sote, Oba Sikiru Adetona, Otunba Subomi Balogun, Michael Adenuga, and Asiwaju Adegunwa—all of whom have shaped and sustained the festival's legacy.
